Attended Surry Community College and North Carolina State University.
Graduated from NCSU in 2010 with Bachelors Degree in Political Science and American History
Professional Experience: In college I was employed with NCSECU at their Card Services Center working in financial and card records as well as administrative assistant roles. Upon graduation from NCSU, I began working with Surry County Department of Social Services and worked there until 2022. I began my career at Surry County DSS in Child Protective Services as an investigator and case manager, allowing me to strengthen the verbal and written communication skills I had gained while at NCSECU as well as sharpening my time management skills. I moved into a Quality Assurance and Professional Development/Training role in 2016 which allowed me to advance my career into supervision and the training of new and veteran staff. In 2017, I added the supervision of Foster Home Licensing and Adoptions, and in 2019 I added the supervision of Foster Care services. Each of these moves both advanced my career but also allowed me to garner new skills and develop a strong network of individuals and stake holders. My career at Surry County DSS prepared me for my current role as a Workforce Development Specialist, as my experience with case management, time management, communication, and extensive work with youth and their families in developing and achieving goals easily transferred into my assisting students now in developing and achieving their educational and career goals.
Personal Information: I am married with three children and find joy in spending time with them playing and coaching sports, traveling, and spending time outdoors.
