Bio I am the Executive Director for Surry-Yadkin Works and have served as the Program Director since its inception in 2021. I am nationally board-certified in Career & Technical Education, taught work-based learning Family & Consumer Sciences courses for 12 years in Stokes County Schools, was the College Liaison at East Surry High School for 3 years, and a Career Coach for Surry County Schools and Surry Community College for 4 years. I have my B.S. degree in Family & Consumer Sciences Education from Virginia Tech and a Masters in School Administration & Educational Leadership from UNC Greensboro. I was a 2018-2019 Kenan Fellow, a program for Teacher Leadership, a 2023-2024 Cohort 4 participant of the ElevateNC: Higher Education program, serve as the Treasurer for Surry County Human Resources Association, and a local 4-H leader.
As the Executive Director, I work with businesses to implement apprenticeships and extended internship opportunities for high school and college students. I directly work with businesses in Surry & Yadkin County to invest in the development of a well-prepared and highly engaged workforce. I also work with Surry Community College to provide industry-recognized credentials for pre-apprentices. As the Executive Director, I'm responsible for the delivery and overall success of the program.
